We respect your privacy and protect the personal information you share with us, whether through this website, by email, or in the course of evaluating or completing a transaction. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have. By using our website or providing information to us, you agree to the practices described here.
1.Information we collect
Identity and contact information
Your name, professional or stage name, email address, phone number, and mailing address; the name of your company, publisher, or representative; and, when a transaction proceeds, government-issued identification and tax forms (such as a W-9 or W-8) needed to verify your identity and pay you.
Catalog and rights information
The works, recordings, and rights you own or control; ownership shares and chain-of-title documents; your agreements with co-writers, publishers, labels, distributors, and administrators; your registrations with performing rights organizations and collection societies; and metadata such as titles, writer and producer credits, ISRC and ISWC codes.
Financial and performance information
Royalty statements and payment histories from performing rights organizations, publishers, labels, distributors, and digital service providers; streaming and sales analytics; and, at closing, the bank account details needed to pay you.
Website data
Our website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the time of each request.
Communications
Emails, messages, notes from calls and meetings, and the documents you send us, including confidentiality agreements, letters of intent, and purchase agreements.
We collect this information directly from you or your representatives and, with your authorization or where it is lawfully available, from the organizations that administer or pay your royalties.
2.How we use your information
- To evaluate catalogs and royalty interests we may acquire, including valuing them and verifying ownership and income
- To prepare, negotiate, and perform confidentiality agreements, letters of intent, and purchase agreements
- To complete closings, including identity verification, tax reporting, and payment
- To administer catalogs and royalty interests after acquisition, including registrations, transfers, and collection
- To communicate with you about a potential or completed transaction
- To comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, and protect our rights
- To keep the records of our business
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
4.Data security
We keep information in secure cloud storage with encryption in transit and at rest, limit access to the people who need it, and keep regular backups. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
5.Data retention
We keep information for as long as we are evaluating or performing a transaction with you, and afterward for as long as needed to administer acquired rights, meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Records of completed acquisitions are kept for the life of the rights involved. Information from evaluations that do not lead to a transaction is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, except where a confidentiality agreement or the law requires otherwise.
6.Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also ask us to stop contacting you. To exercise any of these rights, email operations@verus.deals. We will verify your identity before acting and respond within the time the law allows. Some information must be kept to complete a transaction or meet legal obligations, and we will tell you if that applies.
California residents. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. We process your information to prepare or perform a contract with you, to comply with legal obligations, and for our legitimate interests in evaluating and administering acquisitions. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8.Children’s privacy
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
9.Third-party links and services
Our website and communications may reference or link to third-party services, such as rights organizations, electronic signature, or document-sharing platforms. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to review their policies.
10.International transfers
